fixer got 2 years and 8 month not 2.5 years. lol im from pakistan and the players from my country got jailed and i think thats the right thing cuz it happend many times in cricket before with diffrent country players. they still kept taking money and playing with fans mind. NOW IM SURE NO ONE WILL DO THIS EVER AGAIN UNLESS IF THEY WANT TO BE BEHIND BARS!!

Very deserved, match fixing for money deserves a jail sentence. Cheating i.e. just foul play deserves an in house ban.

Anyone remember when a couple of years ago there was a problem in Italian football with Juventus, one of the biggest Italian football clubs, getting relegated due to match fixing? No one went to prison then, and when it is in a sports environment, no one should. At the worst, ban them for life, but sending sportsmen to prison, especially if one of them is a teenager, is harsh.

Essentialy they committed fraud, if any normal person on the street extorted the amount of money these players and their agent did they would have to serve a prison sentence. So isn’t it fair enough they should have to serve one too?

It’s damn right. Cricket has had a big problem with match fixing and betting scandals, and cricketers were banned or fined. They did criminal acts and should have criminal sentences as well as the sporting sentences they have been handed. Hopefully, it reduces/stops these betting scandals and match fixing in the future.
