   Now I place my bets about 90 seconds before the start and only after having made sure the horse price has NOT steamed in. After adding this filter I haven’t had another loser. As for profit I make 5% – 22% per race. This isn’t fantastic but it does add up over time. Many days the race card was poor so it was a no bet day for me, but over the course of the Flat Seson I’ve had 29 wins from 30 races, giving me a 96.6% strike rate, which is decent enough.

   I promised to keep you updated, so here goes: I had 9 straight wins in a row before I had a loss. That was on June 15th when a 33/1 outsider romped home. Up til then I placed my bets 10 minutes before the start, yet that day I noticed the price of the outsider starting to steam in (drop lower) about 2 minutes before the off. I thought nothing of it until the horse actually won, then I quickly decided to adapt my system to avoid this happening again.

   My average profit is 5%-10%, which isn’t much I know, but my chances of winning are high. If this Dutching system proves itself successful then I’ll use a much larger stake than the current £10. (I’ll keep you updated from time to time of it’s progress).

   Before actually placing my Dutch on Betfair I view the graph for the horse I’m not backing to make sure it’s price hasn’t steamed-in (dropped significantly). If it has dropped a lot this shows big money backing it, so to be safe I won’t bet on the race. I use this Dutching system Monday-Friday. On a typical day I might identify several races which meet my criteria, when this happens I select the one which gives me the highest profit.

   I devised this simple Dutching system after reading that 33% of favourites win the race during the Flat Season. I look for races with 4-7 horses, then I read the analysis at the Racing Post website. I’m looking for races where 1-3 horses have a strong chance of winning, but at least 1 other horse must be there just to make up the numbers and has little chance of winning-THIS is the horse I don’t back. I place my Dutch 5 minutes before the start of the race.

   You’ll obviously have a high strike rate using this, but what is your average profit? Do you use this every day?
